Hyderabad: Anumula Revanth Reddy, Telangana Congress president & Malkajgiri MP, on Tuesday said that the victory of senior Congress leader K Jana Reddy in Nagarjunasagar Assembly bypolls is a foregone conclusion and the need of the hour too. The by-elections are scheduled to be held on April 17.

Addressing the media in Nagarjunasagar, the Congress leader said that Jana Reddy is an epitome of values and ethics with a clean political career spanning over 40 years. "Jana Reddy's presence is very much required in the Telangana Assembly. Moreover, he played key role in the formation of the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) which was instrumental in getting the Telangana State. I don't understand why Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is trying to defeat Jana Reddy in this by-polls? If I were in KCR's place, I would have allowed the unanimous election of Jana Reddy," Revanth said.

The Congress leader alleged that TRS is violating Covid norms and election code by organizing a public meeting with 1 lakh people on Wednesday. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is scheduled to address the meeting at Halia in Nagarjunasagar constituency.

"The government had imposed curbs on YS Sharmila's meeting in Khammam by not allowing more than 6,000 participants. We are also not allowed to use more than five vehicles in convoy during this election campaign. Then how come the CM is being allowed to hold a public meeting with 1 lakh people?" he asked.
